Dempster diving: Buy a pitcher's pad

Ryan Dempster

Typically when a ballplayer puts his home on the market, it means there’s a trade on the horizon.* In the case of Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster, who is heading into the second year of a four-year, $52 million contract with nary a trade rumor wafting out of the hot stove, the sale is probably just a sale.

The Tribune reports that one of Dempster’s three homes, a 5,300 square-foot five-bedroom / 4.5-bath single-family in Lake View (probably the one at at 3638 N Wayne Ave, by the looks of it), just went on the market for $2.25 million. D’Aprile Realty‘s listing says the four-year-old home has “amazing architectural details,” such as a gourmet kitchen with butler’s pantry and breakfast nook, stone baths, cherry hardwood floors, a cedar sauna room, a wine cellar, four fireplaces, two cedar decks, a hot tub, and a 2.5-car garage. Naturally, Wrigley Field is within walking distance, and the Southport Corridor is just one block to the west.

*Sorry, Cubs fans — no word on a listing for Milton Bradley’s place yet.
