South Shore – do you know it yet? We’re told that a bunch of developers are getting together to hire a PR person to introduce Chicago homebuyers to the joys of living in South Shore.
We can see why.
For those who’ve forgotten or didn’t know, the neighborhood is a mere eight miles from downtown (about 30 minutes by Metra) with, as its name suggests, lake frontage. Bike and walking paths and golf courses are all close at hand.
The area doesn’t have the kinds of cool restaurants and cute boutiques that a bit of gentri-attention provides, but some might view that as a positive. It does have a reputation for being a little rough around the edges.
From a cursory look, it seems that new-construction condos start in the high $190s and low $200s and resales are even lower. Consider me pitched. I’m curious.
