Dinner to feature talk by Block 37 engineers

Curious about the progress on Chicago’s storied Block 37 development? Thornton Tomasetti, engineers on the project – now dubbed 108 North State Street (.pdf file) – will give a talk at the October meeting of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.

Joseph Freed and Associates’ redevelopment of the site, bounded by State, Randolph, Washington and Dearborn streets, includes an office tower, a retail complex, hotel and residential elements, and an underground CTA station.

The event will be held Tuesday, Oct 2 at Cliff Dwellers, a private club at 200 S Michigan Ave. A cash bar will open at 5:15, dinner will be served at 6 and the talk will begin at 7.

The event is geared towards builders, architects and other members of the construction industry, but the general public is invited. The event is $45 for SEAOI members and $55 for non-members. RSVP to SEAOI Executive Assistant Donna Childs, at 312-649-4600 x200, by Thursday, Sept 27.
