Click to enlargeGet a good glimpse of these smiling, shovel-clutching suits while you can, because you may not see many other high-rise projects break ground this year.

As we mentioned earlier, The Enterprise Companies and Mesirow Financial Real Estate broke ground on the south tower of Walton on the Park at 11 a.m. today.

Principals from those companies and folks from Bovis Lend Lease, Corus Bank, Pappageorge / Haymes, Coldwell Banker, The Lord Companies and Baird & Warner were on hand to trowel some dirt and sip some bubbly at the construction site, located at 1 W. Walton St (right across State Street from Ten East Delaware‘s hole in the ground).

First deliveries in Walton on the Park’s south tower will begin in January 2010. Prices for its units run from the $530s to $1.6 million.

  • I cant decide if I like this project or not! I hate the side profile, it looks chunky and short, but the view from the front makes it appear tall and thin! Help me!

  • 12 guys with chrome plated shovels acting like politicians and government bureaucrats. Real classy.

  • Well, they certainly have donated enough to the politicians…I’d say they earned it. Where is the ‘diversity’ in this picture?

On a serious note, is the mansions portion from their website part of this project or separate?

  • I went to their brokers’ open house at the “sales office” recently and was quite impressed with what is being offered. I hope the reality matches expectations.

  • Jeff:

The mansions in the 900 North block of Dearborn are a companion project marketed by Enterprise and Mesirow. They’re going as-is for $3.4 to $4 million each.

  • I walked by this development today and did the prices increase? Have they sold that many units?
