Doug Glanville lists Bucktown home for $78,000 off 2006 purchase price

Does Doug Glanville count as a celebrity? His best seasons were in Philly, but he spent some time wearing Cubbie Blue, too, including a second-half stint with the postseason-bound 2003 team. Plus he’s on ESPN! That’s counts as famous in my book.

Anyway, in early 2006 Glanville bought a home in Bucktown for $977,000, and this month he put it back on the market for $899,000. According to the listing by Keller Williams Gold Coast agent Izetta Carroll, the 3,820 square-foot, nine-year-old home at 2043 W McLean Ave features a wrought-iron, scroll-railing staircase (the home’s “showpiece,” although it’s barely featured in the listing photos); maple hardwood floors and crown moldings throughout; a kitchen with granite countertops, 42-inch maple cabinets, and Bosch appliances; a large dining room; a finished basement; a media room with wet bar and access to a brick patio; a wine cooler (hopefully a storage unit, and not a bottle of Bartles & Jaymes); a two-tiered outdoor deck; a two-car garage; and a sprinkler system in the back yard. Taxes are $13,439.

The 77 single-family homes listed in Bucktown have a median price of $411 per square foot, according to Redfin, which is significantly higher than this home’s price of $235 a square foot. The five single-families that sold in the neighborhood last month went for a much closer median price of $264 per square foot.
