The number of downtown condos, townhomes, and single-family homes listed for rent on the MLS has dipped below 1,100. This time last year, there were 1,718 rental listings. The chart above shows the trend line for listings over the past three months.
Current median prices and examples by bedroom count are:
- Studio: $1,200 for unit #9D at Hanover House, 21 W Goethe St in the Gold Coast.
- One bedroom: $1,600 for unit #2905 at Grand Plaza, 545 N Dearborn St in River North.
- Two bedrooms: $2,200 for unit #1906 at Museum Park Tower I, 1322 S Prairie St in the South Loop.
- Three bedrooms or more: $3,200 for unit #1S at 1446 N Wood St in Wicker Park.

Our count does not include homes listed only on Craigslist, apartment listing websites, or development and property management sites.
