When we shot the above video last September there were six homes in Kenilworth listed for under $600,000.
The 3-bedroom, 3 ½ bath, 2-car garage home at 625 Ivy Ct, was the only one of the six east of Green Bay Rd. It was priced at $575,000, and has recently been reduced to $495,000.
The home, which has been on and off the market for nearly 4 years, is less than a minute’s walk from Joseph Sears School and about a 3-minute walk from New Trier High School. It’s open for viewing this afternoon, from 2:30 to 4:30.
I could see someone who lives in the city buying this home as a base for sending two teens to New Trier. It wouldn’t be the first time this has been done, and the owner could also enjoy a weekend getaway spot.

This home is right next to the train tracks. With a level crossing nearby at Kenilworth Avenue, they’ll be hearing the choo-choo all day long and part of the night as well.
Jordan,
I mention – and show – the train tracks in the video. The tracks are slightly above grade at this point and screened by greenery. The grade level crossing is several blocks south.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time in and around that location, and the train’s not much of a presence. That said, some people are hyper-sensitive to noise and may be bothered by it.
If you want Kenilworth for under $500K, there obviously have to be some trade-offs.
