1410 Chicago is an 8-story, 84-unit contemporary brick apartment building at 1410 Chicago Ave in Evanston.

1410 Chicago was built in 1957 and has been recently remodeled.

The apartments

1410 Chicago has a mix of studio, 1- and 3-bedroom apartments. Floor plans are available online. In mid-December 2014 rents started at $1,025 to $2,595 depending on apartment size.


The building has twelve units per floor, almost all studios and one-bedrooms in varied layouts. One-bedrooms have spacious living rooms with hardwood floors.

Updated kitchens have cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliance packages with built-in microwaves, electric ranges and dishwashers. Cabinet and counter space varies depending on the floor plan.

Baths have been updated.

Bedrooms have hardwood floors and are large enough to accommodate multiple pieces of furniture. The apartments have varying amounts of closet space, none of them overly generous.

The all-electric apartments have baseboard heat and through-the-wall air-conditioning units

Amenities, services, policies

1410 Chicago has limited amenities.


The building has a fitness room and a laundry room. There’s also a bicycle storage room.

Parking is available on-site.

The location

1410 Chicago is in a solid edge-of-downtown location. The building is close to shopping, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, public transportation and Lake Michigan parks.

1410 Chicago is about a half-mile from the Northwestern University campus.

Shopping. 1410 Chicago has good proximity to retail shops in downtown Evanston.

Whole Foods, the nearest full-service grocery, is two blocks north on Chicago Ave.

Sea Ranch Fish Market is a few minutes’ walk south of 1410 Chicago. Jewel-Osco and Trader Joe’s are two-and-a-half blocks south on Chicago Ave.


Downtown Evanston offers an eclectic mix of locally-owned boutiques and name-brand retailers..

Residents of 1410 Chicago who are setting up their first apartment will find much of what they need at Lemoi Ace Hardware and Affordable Portables a few blocks from the building.

The upscale Westfield Old Orchard shopping center, anchored by Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, is accessible by a bus route that stops just outside the building.

Dining, nightlife, entertainment. There are dozens of restaurants and bars within a few blocks of 1410 Chicago.


If highly-caffeinated is your preferred state of being, you won’t have to go far to maintain it. Kafein, Other Brothers, Peet’s and Starbucks are nearby.


There’s an abundance and variety of restaurants near 1410 Chicago, including Addis Abeba, Giordano’s, Edzo’s, Trattoria Demi and Tapas Barcelona, to name just a few.

Wine aficionados look forward to the twice-weekly tastings at Vinic Wine, just over a block north of 1410 Chicago.


Downtown Evanston is a pedestrian-friendly environment and a number of restaurants have outdoor seating areas.


As you’d expect in a college town, national brands have a strong presence, but there are enough one-of-a-kind restaurants near 1410 Chicago to satisfy almost every palate. And there are scores more a bit further afield in Evanston’s quirky neighborhoods.


You won’t find much of a club scene in Evanston, but you will find drinking establishments ranging from Bar Louie to Tommy Nevin’s within a few blocks of 1410 Chicago.

TimeOut Chicago’s Evanston City Guide recently ranked SPACE, just over a block south of the building, as one of the best bars in Evanston.

The Century 12 Cinemark movie theater is a few blocks from 1410 Chicago. Evanston has a respectable live theatre scene.

A number of Evanston’s street festivals and outdoor concerts take place near 1410 Chicago

Parks, recreation. The location is reasonably convenient to public parks and outdoor recreational areas.

Raymond Park, a few doors north of the building, has greenery and benches and not much more.

Evanston’s public beaches are less than half a mile east of the building.

Transportation. Residents of 1410 Chicago have good access to public transportation.

Metra’s North Line stop at Davis St is three blocks northwest of the building. The CTA Purple Line stop at Dempster St is just over a block from the building.

Several Northwestern shuttles stop near 1410 Chicago. The #205 CTA bus stops steps from the building.

All of Evanston has relatively inconvenient access to Chicago’s airports and to I-90/94 and the expressway grid.

Enterprise and Zipcar have car sharing locations several blocks from the building. Taxi service can be readily summoned to the building
