The building also features a roof deck with stainless steel grills and seating areas.
Presidential apartments has a new 24-hour fitness center with cardio and weight equipment.
Garage parking is available on-site and there is bike storage in the garage. The building has on-site management and maintenance staff. Cats are welcome; dogs aren’t.
The location
Presidential Apartments is in the southern part of Evanston, a block south of the commercial strip along Main St. The building has good proximity to restaurants, coffee shops and public transportation.
The southern edge of the Northwestern University campus is about 1.3 miles north of Presidential Apartments. Presence Saint Francis Hospital is about a 20-minute walk from the building.
Shopping. Presidential Apartments has reasonably good proximity to grocery shopping.
Whole Foods is three blocks north on Chicago Ave and Jewel-Osco and Trader Joe’s are a block further.
There’s a new Walgreens on Chicago Ave, a block south of Presidential Apartments.
Main Street, a block north of Presidential Apartments, serves up a quirky mix of retailers ranging from resale shops to handmade chocolates. Downtown Evanston shops are about a mile from Presidential Apartments.
The upscale Westfield Old Orchard shopping center, anchored by Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, is accessible by a bus route that stops a block from the building.
Dining, nightlife, entertainment. Residents of Presidential Apartments have a variety of dining and drinking options nearby.
Dollop Coffee and Hoosier Mama Pie Company share a space a block east of Presidential Apartments.
Starbucks and Brothers K coffee shops are a block north on Main St. Both venues have pleasant outdoor seating areas.
The Firehouse Grill, a few doors west on Chicago Ave, is the neighborhood go-to spot for burgers and a lot more.
Lucky Platter, a block north on Main St, draws a crowd for comfort food and a great weekend brunch. Siam Paragon, a local favorite for dine-in and takeout Thai food, and Lupita’s, a margarita mecca, are also nearby on Main St.
TimeOut Chicago’s Evanston City Guide recently ranked The Alcove, a block north on Main St, as one of the best bars in Evanston.
Piccolo Theatre seats 50 for comedy plays at a space in the Main Street Metra Station.
Parks, recreation. The location lacks convenient access to public parks and outdoor recreation areas.
Evanston’s public beaches are over half a mile from the building. The nearest public park, Clark Square Park, is a passive green space.
Transportation. Residents of Presidential Apartments have good access to public transportation.
The Metra North Line and CTA Purple Line are a block north of Presidential Apartments at Main St. The Purple Line stop at South Blvd is a quarter-mile south of the building.
Northwestern’s intercampus shuttle and the #205 CTA bus stop near the building.
All of Evanston has relatively inconvenient access to Chicago’s airports and to I-90/94 and the expressway grid.
There’s an Enterprise CarShare location is just down the street from the building. The nearest Zipcar car-sharing location is several blocks from the building on Main St. Taxi service can be readily summoned to the building
The competition
There are quite a few apartment buildings in the immediate area.
Rentals are typically available in a number of nearby condo buildings, sometimes at lower rents than in the managed apartment buildings.
