First signs of progress on South Loop apartment site

It’s been nearly three years since the news first broke that Golub & Co was planning a 35-story, 392-unit apartment tower at the southeast corner of State St and 9th St.

The first sign that the South Loop project may be poised to move forward is that parking is no longer available on the site, which has been fenced off.

There are currently no records of building permits for the project in the city’s online database.

Our aerial view of the site indicates that views from many of the apartments will be compromised by adjacent high-rises. You can see 100s more of our aerial photos at Flickr.

West- and north-facing apartments at Astoria Tower, immediately north of the Golub site, have striking views of the downtown skyline.
