Five easy pieces: Robert Schmidt

Robert SchmidtI talked with Robert Schmidt of Sudler Sotheby’s International Realty recently about the state of the market. Robert has been in real estate for more than 25 years, through strong and weak market conditions. His approach is simple: Put the right property with the right price with the right buyer.

In a word or short sentence, describe the mood of the market.
People are feeling positive, but with some reservation.

What’s the most common question you hear from buyers?
How’s the market?

What’s your best piece of advice for sellers?
Clean it out, price it right, and the agent should there at every showing.

Give me your best “There’s never been a better time to buy!” pitch.
Interest rates are low and there are a lot of good values on the market.

What’s the worst marketing ploy you’ve come across lately?
Giving stuff away with the home. A car, a television…that’s not what people are shopping for. Broker incentives are also unnecessary. I just want my buyers to be happy with their purchase.
