MyFoxChicago.com posted a segment last night on the city’s nearly 70,000 vacant lots. As you might expect, the problem is particularly bad in wards on the South and West sides; the report singles out the 3rd, 10th, 16th, 20th, 24th and 28th. But those aren’t the only areas blighted by abandoned or vacant lots. The segment features one abandoned lot in Bucktown whose owner won’t consider selling until the housing market picks up, even though neighbors say the place is rodent infested and that a homeless man is sleeping in its rundown garage.
