Five years ago today Jim Letchinger of JDL Development Corp was touting plans for a 24-story high-rise at 541 W Cornelia in Lakeview East. Construction was slated to begin in the fall, with first occupancy late in 2008 or early in 2009. Twenty-one full-floor units were priced from $1.1 million, and a duplex penthouse was offered at $2.6 million. Parking was an extra $40k.
When 2008 rolled around the high-rise was scrapped and a new plan contemplated four luxury single-family homes on the site.
Fast forward to today and the site is offered as vacant land for $1,200,000. According to the listing, it’s an “Incredible opportunity to build your dream home with 6-8 car parking! Unlimited potential with virtually no zoning restrictions. Can build lot-line to lot-line with as much square footage as you desire.”
