From the archives: Phil Berger on Central Station and Pappageorge / Haymes

In these two videos from the “Infill with Phil Berger” series that Joe Zekas shot in November 2007, Berger discusses the history of Central Station and some of the successes and shortcomings of Pappageorge / Haymes architecture in the South Loop. Joe and Phil discuss the townhouses, harass the locals, and walk through a neighborhood park.

Yesterday, Yo reader Jeff griped about the streetscape of 1600 Museum Park, and Berger had the same criticism of Museum Park Place in the second Central Station video from last year. Phil liked the departure from some of the “neo-historical” high-rises that have been built in The Enterprise CompaniesMuseum Park at Central Station development, but because of its unpleasing streetscape, he liked Museum Park Place better from afar than up close.

Ground recently broke on Museum Park Place South, which, according to Ralph Oliva from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, will begin delivering in late summer or early fall 2009.
