News that Rudy Acosta’s infamous castle on the Kennedy is on the market had us digging back into the Tribune’s video archives for this gem: columnist John Kass’ interviews with a few miffed Irving Park residents. The 7,000 square-foot, 42-foot-high home at 3721 N Parkview Terrace started going up in 2006, but Acosta — described as a “onetime head of a Chicago hip-hop recording company,” a “private security” entrepreneur, and “politically connected tough guy” — never actually moved in.

Beverly Fishman of Prudential Rubloff has listed the home for $1.89 million.

  • I don’t mind the look of that house.

    The location is wrong.

    Hinsdale maybe.

Perhaps at the bottom of the Thornton Quarry.

Next door to Joe Zekas in Wilmette.

As for the comment regarding Ed Burke I suspect he might like that house. Plop it down off Archer near Kedzie somewhere.

His former partner in council wars Ed “Time is runnin out before I end up in the pen” Vdrolyak built a monstrosity of a house on da SE side. Corner lot and he bought part of the alley from da city.

Eddy V would likely love that house.

  • IrishPirate,

I jokingly refer to my neighborhood as “Ukrainian Village North” – in part to show off that I’m one of the few people in and around real estate who spells Ukrainian properly, in part to reflect the changing demographics of my area.

The house would definitely fit in with the eastern European-built stone castles that are replacing the older homes on my block. The fence wouldn’t happen in Wilmette, however. No one has enough clout to make that happen.

Despite what one of the neighbors told John Kass, the castle would also fit right in next door to the Mayor’s residence in the South Loop.

  • I wouldn’t move in either if my future neighbors all despised me

  • I’m an Urban Planning student at the University of Illinois and I know there is no way this should have been allowed. I know Chicago is corrupt but my god! Why would he even want a house of that scale in that neighborhood, I wish I could ask him.
