Gated community to open in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood

Lakeview Club in Bronzeville

The Lakeview Club is a 240-unit rehab in Bronzeville with a twist – all three condo buildings part of the development will be set back in a 70-acre gated community.

“Really, we are neat because we are as far east as you go before you hit the lake and we’re the only gated community in Bronzeville,” says Pamela Holt, the lead @properties sales agent for Lakeview Club.

Lakeview Club drivewayHolt says the gated community will consist of a large courtyard, a tennis court, a grilling area and a playground. She expects the development, 3423 S Cottage Grove Ave, to be popular with families, people looking to move closer to the city and those looking for privacy.

“It’s not a through street, people can’t drive down it like a public street, so noise is cut down and traffic is cut down,” she says.

Units with one to three bedrooms and one to three baths are available. Prices range from the $170s to the $250s, and the units range from 840 square feet to 1,450 square feet. Outdoor deeded parking is included in the price.

Out of the 240 units, 157 are available, and most of the one-bedrooms have sold, according to Holt. Deliveries can be expected within 45 to 90 days of contract, she says.

The three buildings will be separate and will form a triangle with each one facing the courtyard. The buildings will have either six or seven floors with 12 units per floor.

The community used to be a gated apartment building community. Some residents of the apartment building have bought condos, and all of the units will be converted and upgraded, Holt says.

“Everything comes out with the exception of the bathtub,” she says. “We don’t change the walls or the floor plans, but everything else goes.”
