There was a giant helicopter hovering about 300 feet above the intersection of LaSalle and Schiller in the Gold Coast neighborhood Saturday morning around 10:30. Cars were backed up for blocks. Police officers rerouted traffic. Pedestrians stopped and craned their necks. Finally the helicopter rose to the top of a high rise, picked up a large container and lowered it safely to the street. I idled slowly past, looking for cameras and wondering if what I was witnessing was possibly the pilot episode of a reality series called “Gold Coast Choppers.” Hey, it could happen.
