Grilling 101 in the West Loop

We don’t want to count our chickens before we grill them, but the sun is starting to show its face regularly, and if your sniffer is sharp you know that the hardcore grillers are not waiting until the thermometer hits 80.

That said, Carmichael’s Chicago Steak House (1052 W. Monroe, 312-433-0025) invites you to learn the art of grilling with its Summer Saturdays Grill Out Series from 10 a.m. to noon on June 3, 10 and 24; and July 8, 15 and 22.

The series is sponsored by Jack Daniel’s, so instruction will include their brands such as Dry Rubs with Ribs, Brisket and Chicken and Lynchburg Lemonade on June 3; Beef Tenderloin Steaks and grilled desserts and Southern Comfort Hurricanes on June 10; Classic steaks — Filets and Strip Steaks and Whiskey tasting with Professor John Barrette on June 24; Skirt steaks, Flat Iron and Manhattan Steaks and Woodford Reserve Bourbon infusions on July 8; Surf and Turf with grilled fruits and Caribbean drinks with Appleton Rum Don Eduardo Tequila on July 15; and Lamb, Pork and Beef Chops and Old Forrester Bourbon and Jack Daniels on July 22. Classes are $60 per person. You can get three classes for $150, too. Mmm, grilling.
