We just discovered the quirky, amusing and randomly thought-provoking Beachwood Reporter, which appears to be based somewhere in Chicagoland, and reports on some actual crank calls to misleadingly named suburbs.
Carol Stream, of course, is named for developer Bill Stream’s daughter Carol. Ask Eric Zorn if you don’t believe us.

Thanks for the plug. The Beachwood Reporter indeed is located somewhere in Chicagoland … near the corner of Beach and Wood in Wicker Park. There happens to be a bar there called the Beachwood Inn, where much of the site was conceived, though we are not affiliated with the bar. Thus, if you call us asking about the latest report on beachwood you will be disappointed. But we will be amused.
