Irish music in Wrigleyville

Tonight only! The upscale coffee shop/performance venue Uncommon Ground hosts one of Ireland’s most talented accordion players, County Mayo’s David Munnelly, tonight at 8 p.m. He’s not much on the microphone, shouting phrases such as, “Can you hear me over there!” and then pointing to the other side of the crowd and shouting, “Can you hear me over there!”

But the fellow can play the accordion. He loves to mix in a little bit of American swing music, too. Suffice to say, the blending works. Also on the bill is the Chicago band Gan Bua, which is Irish for “without talent,” which, in their case, is a lie.

Uncommon Ground (773-929-3680) is at 3800 N. Clark St., just up the street from the Friendly Confines in beautiful, urine-stained Wrigleyville.
