Is that the hiss of a Housing bubble as home sales fall?

New single-family houses were sold at a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 1,072,000 in July, according to the U.S. Commerce Department, down 4.3 percent from June and down 21.6 percent from July 2005. Existing home sales also were down in July – 4.1 percent below June’s numbers and 11.2 percent below sales for July 2005, according to the National Association of Realtors. Any good news for sellers? Well, median home prices were up a bare .9 percent compared to a year earlier, though according to the NAR, prices actually have dropped slightly in many areas.
