Housing in the northwest 'burbs becoming unaffordable?

Five northwest suburban mayors and The Metropolitan Planning Council plan to discuss affordable housing for the rapidly developing communities along I-90 and I-290 on May 18. The invitation-only event, at the Arlington Park Racecourse in Arlington Heights, kicks off the Charter One Workforce Housing Initiative, administered by MPC and the Housing Opportunity Development Corp. The three-year plan is aimed at helping business and community leaders address the growing affordable housing shortage in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine and Rolling Meadows.

Prices in some of those spots look pretty good if you’re used to the city market, especially downtown, so we’d love to hear from northwest suburbanites on the issue. Click on “Comments” below.
