The new 190-unit apartment tower under construction at 601 W Jackson was one story shy of topping out at 15 stories when we stopped by yesterday. Occupancy is slated for next spring. You can follow the progress of construction on the building’s webcam.

The building’s name, Jeff Jack Apartments, reflects its location at the intersection of Jefferson and Jackson.

According to an email I received yesterday, Jeff Jack will “provide a new option for Chicagoans who want to be part of the Loop living revolution.”

The building is, of course, in the West Loop, which is shaping up to be a very competitive market. Arkadia, Circa 922, Catalyst, The Madison and a number of smaller projects are opening late this year and in the first half of next year.
