Jordyne Cares, assisting families after the death of a child

A festive residents’ party was underway in the Hyde Park building where I met Deirdre Pullins – and stepped away into a more somber mood.

Pullins’ treasured 9-year old daughter, Jordyne, died of an inoperable brain cancer. That unthinkable event led Pullins to create Jordyne Cares, a nonprofit that helps families pay for funeral costs after the death of a sick child.

Social workers at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago refer families who need assistance in giving their child the dignity of the funeral they deserve and that helps families to begin healing.

The need is greater than the available resources, so if you’re able to assist, watch the video for info on how to make a donation.
