Landmark condo on Central Street in Evanston

2517 Central #2, Evanston, Illinois

Central Street, just west of Green Bay Rd in Evanston, is one of my favorite suburban spots. It’s a vibrant stretch of parks, one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants with sidewalk cafes and galleries. In the spring and summer this part of Central Street comes alive with a series of events.

The 2500 block of Central hosts an unusual set of identical triplets – vintage 2-flats that were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The top floor of the easternmost building, 2517 Central St, was just listed for sale at $429,900 with Prudential Rubloff’s Susan Kipley. It’s an unusually large 2-bedroom, 2-bath with a gracious living room, a formal dining room, in-unit laundry and a separate family room. The baths and kitchen have been updated. The unit shares a full basement and has a garage space.

If you’re unfamiliar with this part of Evanston and looking for an urban environment in the suburbs, head out for the open house that’s scheduled this Sunday from 1 to 3. Check the commute while you’re at it by taking the Metra to Central St. The 12:35 out of the Ogilvie Center, or the 12:43 from Clybourn will drop you at Central St at 1:01.
