Landmark that lady!

Recognizing just how much of a pillar Lois Weisberg is in our community, the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois is intent on making her a landmark.

The LPCI presents its first ever “Legendary Landmarks” award to Weisberg, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs in March. The event marks the 35th anniversary of the LPCI and the first ever Chicago “landmarking” of a person. Barbara Walters, Candice Bergen and Ed Koch all have received New York’s venerable “Living Landmarks” award.

Weisberg receives her honor at the LPCI’s Spring Gala, held appropriately at the historic Palmer House, 17 E Monroe St. Tickets for the event, which begins at 7 p.m. on March 4, coincidentally the city’s 169th birthday (no gifts please–your taxes are enough), are $350. Call 312-922-1742.
