Listed for $979K in Winnetka, sells for $800K

Last April I visited the 5-bedroom, 3 ½ bath home at 397 Sunset Rd in Winnetka, shortly after it came on the market.

The home was directly across a parklike boulevard from New Trier High School, a block from Greeley School, and less than two blocks from the Indian Hill Metra station.

The home was originally priced at $979,000, and was reduced several times to $899,500. It closed December 17th for $800,500.

This pattern of price reductions has been common on the North Shore during the past several years. Buyers are well-advised to make their best offer on a home they like that may, at first blush, be out of their price range.
