Full kitchen at Aqua, 225 N Columbus Dr, Chicago

We spend a lot of time keeping up with Aqua‘s condominiums, but what about its apartments? It’s easy to forget that rentals will make up 33 of the tower’s 82 floors. Those homes, located at 225 N Columbus Dr, are nearing completion and should be ready for occupancy by May 1, according to a new media release from Magellan Development Group.

The 474 studios, convertibles, and one- and two-bedroom residences on floors 19 to 52 will rent from $1,375 to $3,111 per month. The apartments will feature kitchens with stainless-steel GE appliances and granite countertops, and tiled entries and baths. NNP Residential will manage the rentals, according to the release.

Tenants will have access to all of Aqua’s building amenities, such as an 80,000 square-foot outdoor deck with pools, gazebos, a running track, a fire pit and grills; a 35,000 square-foot amenity floor will with fitness rooms, basketball court, lap pool, and spa; party suites with catering kitchens; a media room; a billiards and game area; and a business center.

Magellan announced in mid-February that a 56,000 square-foot Roundy’s Supermarket will anchor Lakeshore East’s Village Market Center, located just south of Aqua. A CVS pharmacy will occupy one of Aqua’s retail spaces.

  • I must say, I’m a little disappointing in the choice of finishes. Bland and uninspired, VE all the way. I love the building, love studio Gang, but for $3,111 a month, I’d buy and pick out my own finishes.

  • Yeah, they’re very ho-hum. I’m guessing Studio Gang had little to do with them.

  • It’s my understanding that the developer took care of unit plans, etc and Gang just did the exterior concept/envelope per interviews with her early on in the design of this project.

  • Tall Norske – they certainly look like popcorn ceilings when you enlarge the pic. Considering the low ceiling heights, i’m sure they used the popcorn texture over the concrete to hide the unevenness. I wonder if the condos have popcorn too?
