Fascinating. Thank you for breaking down this dense data. I live in Logan Square and from looking at the detail of that neighborhood and comparing it with other wards, my hypothesis is that immigrant neighborhoods have suffered from gentrification. Ethnic families, largely Latinos, have been pushed to the city fringes and likely to the near suburbs. They have been replaced by white individuals without families, resulting in a population drop in Logan Square. There 9000 Latinos left and were replaced by less than 2000 whites… Interesting!
