Let’s say you want to live there, because it’s Chicago’s next hot ‘hood (or at least it was until RedEye decided it wasn’t), but you don’t know the first thing about what prices are like in the area. Don’t fret — using Coldwell Banker‘s rental search and Redfin‘s spreadsheets of homes for sale, I pulled together quick hits on four mini-markets — homes listed for rent on the MLS, and condos, single-family homes, and townhomes listed for sale, complete with links to listings representing the neighborhood’s current low, median, and high price points.
(A note for newcomers: The “Homes for Rent” section only includes units listed on the MLS, and yes, these are only a fraction of the homes available to rent in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, a search for Avondale apartments on a site like Craigslist is going to surface dozens of apartments located outside of the neighborhood, which are overtagged with keywords for maximum visibility.)
