Get in the car with YoJoe and YoVal for a quick tour of the Marycrest neighborhood on Chicago’s southwest side.

I like this a lot. I was a big fan of the photo galleries of neighborhoods when they came out, but I think this is actually cooler, because the dialogue gives an interpretation that one would otherwise have to make for themselves. It also allows us to see Chicago neighborhoods that we might not otherwise venture to, and see that stereotypes are not necessarily true, ie. north side, south side, west side. Who would expect this on 87th Street, after all?
LaLuce,
As someone who gets around to most corners of Chicago, I find it hard to sustain any stereotypes.
This city’s full of surprises and delights.
Any suggestions on where I might head are appreciated.
The video’s not replacing photo sets. We’re still adding to our neighborhood shots at Flickr, and now have nearly 7,000 photos of over 140 neighborhoods. By year’s end we’ll have photos of every Chicago neighborhood and we will, some day, have more than 100,000 images online.
