Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the British International School Children’s Choir vied for headline billing at the event, which drew a strong media presence.
Star billing at the event, however, went to the new Mariano’s Fresh Market at NewCity.
The two-level, 82,000 square foot food emporium is more an experience than a store.
In a surprise announcement, Saks Off 5th will be opening a 50,000 square foot fashion outlet at NewCity. Saks will join ArcLight Cinemas, Yard House, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kings Bowl America and other dining, entertainment and retail outlets at NewCity.
The new NewCity apartments hosted well-attended apartment tours throughout the grand opening weekend.
NewCity is a full-amenity, full-service, pet-friendly community with 199 studio, convertible, 1- and 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartments. Floor plans are available online, and the leasing office is open daily on-site at 1457 N Halsted St.
