Where does Chicago Mayor Richard Daley stand on adding Wal-Marts to the cityscape?
Recent comments suggest he’s in the giant retailer’s corner even though aldermen have opposed the chain for its anti-union stance and damaging effects on smaller stores. “They are building all around the city, why can’t we have one?” Daley recently said.
The City Council’s Zoning Committee tabled a proposal last week for a zoning change that would have allowed Wal-Mart to build on an 11-acre site at Grand and Keating, on the West Side.
