Click to enlargeDuring a stroll through Streeterville this morning, I snapped these photos of ParkView, the 47-story high-rise by MCL Companies at 505 N McClurg Ct.

The building was topped off back in November, but it looks like workers are now fitting the building’s exterior with the much-talked-about copper striping. Compare these photos to the colorful rendering we’ve been enjoying for more than a year; how do you think the finished product will measure up?

Homes in the ParkView start in the $380s, according to the project’s Web site.

  • zzzzzz. Copper cladding does not make great or even good architecture. It doesn’t make up for the fact that this clunky monolith would look just as bad with painted concrete. Just another uninspiring curtain wall over an unimaginative mass. Curtain walls were kind of new and exciting in 1920. In 2008 they are a tired solution.
