Meet Eugene, the lead concierge at Astoria Tower

The role of the doorman in luxury high-rise buildings has evolved over time. The skilled people who greet residents at the door have become concierges, dispensing advice on local attractions and serving residents in a variety of ways.

Eugene, the lead concierge at the South Loop’s Astoria Tower, often takes on an additional role: father figure to some of the building’s younger residents. He’s well-suited for that role as the father of five children and seven grandchildren, aged 4 to 18.

A native Chicagoan, Eugene served in military intelligence in Vietnam and also had a decades long career in management consulting.

Astoria Tower residences feature hardwood floors, kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious closets and in-unit washers and dryers.

Community amenities include an indoor pool, fully-equipped fitness center, 24-hour concierge, business center, spa and rooftop patios with breathtaking lake and city views.
