Our post on plans for a grocery store at the Carson Pirie Scott building drew some hopeful responses. More on the grocery front: Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. of Milwaukee is among the stores contending for the Carson’s site, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. (City officials recently told the Sun-Times that a grocery store is coming to Carson’s, but declined to say which one). Roundy’s in the meantime has secured a two-level, 80,000 square foot store on the site of the New City YMCA at 1515 N. Halstead, Crain’s reports. That store is scheduled to open in 2008.
