We’ve been tracking rental homes and condos listed in the MLS in 14 downtown ZIP codes since November of 2009.
When we began tracking, there were 1,927 units listed for rent. That number has fallen, in an almost unbroken progression, week after week, and now stands at a new low of 786 units.
Within the past week 183 new rentals have been listed and remain listed, indicating a very rapid turnover in the MLS-listed rental inventory in downtown Chicago.

Interesting presentation of facts, but do you have any suspicion as to *why* this trend is happening?
