LUXE on Madison is a 5-story, 58-unit luxury apartment building at 1222 W Madison St in the West Loop.
Sullivan Goulette & Wilson was the architecture firm for LUXE, which was conceived as a condominium but converted to rental apartments in 2009 as a result of a market downturn.
Fifield Companies acquired LUXE, along with a vacant parcel to the west, and is currently building an additional 43 units and expanding the building’s amenities.
The apartments
LUXE has a mix of one-, two-bedroom and two-bedroom plus den apartments.
Floor plans can be accessed online. The apartments have 10-foot ceiling heights, large expanses of windows and private balconies.
Kitchens have stylish teak cabinets, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliance packages with gas cooktops, built-in ovens and microwaves. All of the apartments have in-unit washer / dryers and individual heating and air-conditioning units.
The baths in one-bedrooms and the master bath in 2-bedrooms have dual-bowl vanities and stall showers. The second bedroom in the two-bedroom plan has borrowed light and ventilation rather than windows.
Views. LUXE is not a view building.
Amenities, services, policies
First-floor common-area amenities include a resident lounge with computers and printers, a conference room with flat screen television for presentations and a screening room with 120” screen.
The building has a fifth-floor 24-hour fitness center with cardio and strength training equipment.
Additional amenities include indoor parking, a dog park, storage and Pressbox dry cleaning.
Construction of the new building, which is slated for completion in January 2016, will add a rooftop deck with grills and an expanded parking garage.
LUXE is pet-friendly and has 24/7 emergency maintenance. A private dog park is on-site. Management and leasing staff are on-site.
The location
LUXE is located on a pedestrian-friendly stretch of Madison Street lined with low-rise buildings, bars, restaurants and local service establishments. It’s a pleasant environment with a strong neighborhood feel.

The new Mariano’s a half-mile east of LUXE has been generating a lot of positive buzz and drawing crowds to a large selection of prepared foods and craft beers. Jewel-Osco also has a location nearby.
You’ll find the occasional boutique and gallery in the neighborhood, but retail venues are fairly scarce. State Street shops, anchored by Macy’s, are a mile-and-a-half east.
Dining, nightlife. The West Loop is an almost indescribably-rich dining and nightlife venue.
Talay Thai Cuisine is located in the building.
The thriving Randolph Street restaurant corridor, a few blocks north, draws tourists and locals to options that range from the grand to the casual. The annual Taste of Randolph street fair is a great way to sample what they have to offer.
Greektown is a few blocks east of LUXE.
Residents at LUXE don’t need to venture to the well-known destination strips. They have a short stroll east or west along Madison St to Nohea Cafe, Palace Grill, Third Rail Tavern, The CrossRoads, Viaggio and West End, to name a few
Parks, recreation. The location has good proximity to public parks and recreational opportunities.
The more than 7-acre Skinner Park, two blocks from the property, has a children’s playground, baseball fields, basketball courts, an athletic field for football or soccer and hosts popular events including Movies in the Parks. There’s also a full complement of facilities, including a pool, field house and tennis courts, at the 13-acre Union Park, several blocks west of LUXE.
Mary Bartelme Park, a few blocks southeast, is a neighborhood favorite for kids and dogs.
Hockey players will enjoy the close proximity to Johnny’s IceHouse East, a 4-minute walk west on Madison St.
Transportation. Public transportation is excellent. LUXE is a short walk from the new CTA Pink and Green Line stop at Morgan.
The nearby Racine Blue Line stop reaches O’Hare airport in about 50 minutes.
A number of CTA bus routes serve the area and several stop outside the building on Madison.
LUXE has good access to the city’s expressway grid. Taxi service is readily available on Madison. Zipcar car-sharing locations are nearby.
