The Tribune’s latest community profile tells us that:
When the gentrification wave swept across Lake County in the 1980s-90s, on its way from the North Shore to the Barringtons, it skipped Mundelein, which remains their down-to-earth, unpretentious cousin.
We don’t know about that gentrification wave, but the Trib’s description of Mundelein as “affordable” seems fitting. According to Redfin, the median list price of a Mundelein home last month was $190K, and the median selling price was $150K.
Expect to pay a premium for lakefront living, however. The 4-bedroom, 3 ½ bath, 1-dock home pictured above, at 652 Lomond Dr, is asking $399,000. It’s been on and off the market for just over 4 years.
