Often thought of as tatty hinterlands–when thought of at all–N Sheridan Rd boasts several buildings that once represented Chicago’s highest standard of luxury accomodation, and that continue to make substantial, if decidely less glamourous, contributions to city living. It also boasts, or acknowledges, or shyly admits to, or maybe flat out denies if it’s had enough to drink, quite a number of uninspired, or straight-up ugly, ’70s towers. But even some of the worst buildings offer high-rise units with door staff and great views on the lake for the price of a basement condo in DePaul. We kick off our Sheridan Road tour with this overview from Emporis, which gives a nice virtual look at what’s available.
