Be the first to tell us the neighborhood within a neighborhood where we spotted this oft-punctuated roofline and we’ll send you a snazzy YoChicago yo-yo.

That’s right across the street from the Irish Heritage Center. Knox. North of 4600 South of 4700.
I’d call it Paddyville or Bogtown. You probably call it Mayfair. There are some nice homes up and down a few of the N/S streets right there.
I could look up the boundaries to see if North Mayfair goes south of Lawrence, but as I just got in from a lovely bike ride down a near deserted lakefront and I haven’t had any Guinness and I’m in danger of writing a run on sentence I won’t.
Please send the Yo Yo to Congressman and soon to be Presidential Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel so he can use it to taunt liberal democrats into supporting the President.
Aaaarrrrghhhh!
Once again I’ve misjudged, thinking that all the cheap wine, not to mention the prolonged proximity to Helen Shiller, would have taken more of a toll on the IrishPirate’s once-impressive visual memory. Once again he’s got it right, and got it quickly.
Joe,
The patriotic red, white and blue banner gave it away. I initially was going to suggest Irving Park, the neighborhood just south of Mayfair, but the homes there are not part of the “Pro America” America with their anti war and Obama signs.
I actually find that little section of Mayfair quite appealing. I’m not a big fan of frame homes because of maintenance issues, but some of the brick homes on those blocks are nice. The brick homes aren’t necessarily large, but they are diverse and visually interesting.
IrishPirate,
Walking around the neighborhood I met several older ladies who warned me that I’d “better be careful” when carrying an expensive camera. Latino gangs, they said, were becoming a force on the streets. Heard that several times, but saw no evidence of it myself.
Earlier YO post on Mayfair. Which I vaguely remembered.
I’m not around Mayfair enough to give a well informed answer, but my impression is that gang activity is rather small by Chicago standards.
It’s mostly SFH and a few smaller apartment buildings and those are generally areas where you see less gang activity.
