Neighborhoods for the rest of us — Old Edgebrook

Old Edgebrook, a landmark district

“No one knows we’re here,” one resident told me, in a tone that could have signified either suppressed glee or wistfulness.

There aren’t many residents in Old Edgebrook, a northwest side micro-neighborhood that encompasses fewer than 50 homes, and is surrounded by forest preserves and the Edgebrook Golf Course. To find Old Edgebrook, head south from Devon and Central, and take a right on Louise.

Homes in this Chicago Landmark District range from modest ranches to impressive Queen Annes. Many are priced upwards of a million dollars, but Zillow values many well below that — and even has one pegged (probably erroneously) in the $200k range.

Yo has more Old Edgebrook photos at Flickr than Old Edgebrook has homes. You can also view our images as a slideshow.
