Neighborhoods for the rest of us – Mayfair

A typical street scene in Mayfair

Enough with Wicker Park and “adore me more” already — does the narcissism of the young and the would-be trendy know no bounds?

Beginning today Yo will focus its lens on some of Chicago’s lesser-known and, yes, less trendy neighborhoods. Think of them as the neighborhoods for the rest of us.

We start with Mayfair — the area bounded by Montrose Ave (4400 N), Lawrence Ave (4800 N), Pulaski Rd (4000 W) and the Kennedy and Edens Expressways. It’s traditionally been considered part of Albany Park, but most of it lies within the Irving Park neighborhood.

See over 200 photos of Mayfair in YoChicago’s Flickr album, or view the images as a Flickr slideshow. Next up: Washington Park.
