In a joint release (pdf), the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that both building permits and housing starts increased in November.

Building permits were up 5.7% month-over-month and 20.7% year-over-year. Housing starts were up 9.3% month-over-month and 24.3% year-over-year.

The numbers are seasonally adjusted and for the entire U.S.
