Encouraged by an uptick in sales at Lexington Park in downtown Des Plaines, developer Lexington Homes intends to move forward with another round of new-construction townhomes next door later this year.
The first round of construction on Lexington Park 2 will create a dozen new homes, with as many as 50 expected by the end of build-out, says sales manager Mary Corbett. These homes, located immediately west of Lexington Park’s existing townhomes, will begin delivering this fall.
At the same time, Lexington Homes is still in the process of finishing the first phase of the Lexington Park community. The last of the units from this phase will be ready to deliver in the summer.
Several of these homes have sold in recent weeks, with buyers showing a willingness to wait for the completion of their units in return for locking in today’s low interest rates. The buyers have included first-timers looking for quality entry-level homes, long-time home owners choosing to scale down from their old single-families, professionals who want to live close to their downtown Des Plaines workplaces, and Chicago residents who desire both suburban affordability and easy access to the Loop, Corbett says. Six homes slated for completion this summer are still available, at prices ranging from the $230s to $250s. The townhomes offer two- and three-bedroom plans with 2.5 baths, two-car garages, finished lower levels, and an abundance of storage space. Lexington’s three floor plans feature master suites, gourmet kitchens, and in once case, a large space on the main level, perfectly suited for a den, office, or playroom.
Lexington Park is located within walking distance of the Metropolitan Square retail center and the Des Plaines Metra station, and mere minutes by car from the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and the Northwest Tollway (I-90), and O’Hare International Airport.
