Nine-story towers spark ire in North Shore

Residents of Ft. Sheridan on the North Shore are furious about plans for two nine-story condo and retail towers, according to today’s Chicago Tribune. The name of this proposed development, Highwood Towers, and its developer, The Mega Group, seem plucked from a melodrama about big, bad developers scarring the pristine skylines of suburban America. Officials from the city Highwood (which encompasses part of Ft. Sheridan) say they’re just trying to improve the tax base. They’ll go head to head with protesters tonight at a joint meeting of the City of Highwood’s Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, to be held at the Midwest Young Artists Building at 878 Lyster Road in Highwood.
