No farm at Lakemoor Farms homes, but buyers don't need much green

The Glen at Lakemoor FarmsWhere are the farms in The Glen at Lakemoor Farms? Well, strictly speaking, there aren’t any. There isn’t even one farm, not technically. There is, however, 90 acres of green space at the broader 272-acre Lakemoor Farms development, of which the Glen is one part.

The Glen, by Neumann Homes, is part of a master-planned community that also includes single-family homes and duplexes. The development, to give some credence to the name, is located in what might be called the countryside (there are some farms nearby), five miles from the McHenry Metra station in northwest suburban Lakemoor.

Half of the townhomes at The Glen are located next to nature reserves, including 13 acres of wetlands and walking paths, as well as the five-acre Heritage Park, which includes a basketball court, baseball and soccer fields, a sand volleyball court and a play lot.

The Glen’s two- and three-bedroom homes, which have 1.5 to 2.5 baths and two-car attached garages, are base priced from the $160s to the $180s. That’s not much green compared to prices for comparable space in the city, where the cost of new housing has put some shocked home buyers in danger of buying the farm.

And what about the glen at The Glen? We’ll save that for another post.
