Off-Broadway loft project and theater company opening soon in Edgewater

broadwayblog.jpgThe brick building that once housed an industrial laundry called Zengler’s Cleaners at 5427 N Broadway St, in Edgewater, is being converted into the 24-unit Broadway Village Lofts, part of a broader mixed-use project planned for the one-acre site. Developer Dino Amiros says he wants to shake up that end of Broadway, and plans to redevelop three other buildings on the site. The other three buildings will house an American diner called Pepitone’s and a couple more condos. One of the buildings will be the new home of Theater Wit, a Chicago theater company and Amiros also hopes to attract a Kinko’s. So far buyers have mostly been Edgewater residents and the building is 25 percent sold. It will feature true lofts and some new-construction units. First delivery is slated for late spring 2007.
