Oh no, a high-rise in our South Loop? How could they?!

Yo was wondering why Renaissant Development Group was coy about unveiling detailed plans for its new 866-foot high-rise, Park Michigan, at 830 S Michigan Ave, and now we know. A group of South Loop residents, who bought into the high-rise neighborhood before coming down with a nasty bout of the NIMBYs, say that the building is too tall and will increase traffic and parking problems in the area. Some residents have poured scorn on the design, by architectural firm Pappageorge Haymes.

The Gazette newspaper quotes George Pappageorge as saying “As it goes up, it creates the skyline drama without the bulk. To my mind it will be a very classic, very enduring design that will stand the test of time.” Your thoughts?
