When I visited K2 at K Station earlier today approximately 150 workers from various trades were busy assembling plumbing fittings, installing electrical equipment and windows, assembling and disassembling forms, pouring and finishing concrete – and engaged in a variety of other activities on the 496-unit 34-story apartment tower.
In the above photo you can see the third floor lobby level progressing toward its connection with Halsted Street.
McHugh Construction Project Engineer Owen Smith showed me around the site, starting at ground level and ending on the 13th floor, above, which is partially complete. From the 9th floor on we climbed construction ladders.
Within a day or two I’ll have video from the tour available. In the meantime, there’s video from K2 at our YouTube playlist.
